The Arkansas Razorbacks are excited to announce that goalie Sophia Rock has committed to the
University of Arkansas for the 2026-27 season. Rock comes to Arkansas from Portland, OR and the Brewster Academy Bobcats program. She will be pursuing a degree in Nursing.
Rock chose Arkansas for the strong Nursing program, being able to go to school in the south with warmer weather, and being able to continue playing hockey. Sophia got started in hockey watching watching the Portland Winterhawks junior team with her dad growing up. She recorded 6 shutouts in her high school career with Brewster and qualified for the 2025 19U Tier 1 National Tournament. Rock said she most closely resembles Canadian goalie and Olympic silver-medalist Ann-Renée Desbiens. Rock previously played for the Anaheim Lady Ducks AAA program.
The University of Arkansas Women’s Hockey team plays in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The 2026-27 season will be the team’s second season as a member of the ACHA competing in Division II. The team’s schedule can be viewed here. All home games are played at The Jones Center for Families in Springdale, AR.
